 Rengetsu Kimura
Born in 1949. She worked for 25 years as a Japanese language teacher at a public junior high school. After early retirement, she passed the 1st grade calligraphy proficiency test sponsored by the Ministry of Education in the 3rd session of 2007 and the 1st grade penmanship proficiency test sponsored by the Ministry of Education in the 3rd session of 2010, and then established the Terakoya Calligraphy School. Over 25 years of facing junior high school students daily, she has connected the pursuit of questions such as what education is, what it means to be human, and what the self is, to the activities of her calligraphy school. Through encounters with many people, she continues to explore these questions and delves ever deeper into their understanding.
